Ethos Creative competes with big business for Design Week Award

2 Mar 2010

Local graphic design and print business Ethos Creative has been shortlisted for a prestigious Design Week Bright Ideas Award.

The Llantrisant-based company was nominated and shortlisted for the national industry award for its innovative British Gas Journey recruitment website.

The site is at the forefront of interactive web design and is one of the first of its kind to be used in recruitment. It’s for new starters and aims to create excitement about working with the company before their first day. It features a virtual village, complete with a rising and setting sun, virtual buildings and your very own avatar. New recruits can navigate their way around the village, exploring key information about British Gas and their new job.

Competition for the awards is fierce and Ethos finds itself up against other shortlisted agencies with clients like Puma, Jamie Oliver and Boots.

Creative Director Ross Hutchins said: "We were invited to tender for this website by British Gas, having worked on a number of smaller projects within various departments. We were aware that we would be competing against larger companies and felt this was an opportunity to show that our quality of work can stand alongside the bigger UK agencies.

"This nomination proves that there is no need to fear competition from larger organisations. For a relatively small agency based in Wales it is an honour to be recognised on a national level."

Feedback from British Gas HR Recruitment Manager Andrew Sims has been very positive: "Ethos created an interactive and engaging website that fits our brand perfectly and surpassed our original brief. I’ve dealt with many agencies over the years and Ethos has been by far the most flexible, supportive and – above all – brimming with creativity."
