Getting Uppity in a Downturn

14 Sep 2009

Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Business Club and Caerphilly Business Forum have organised a unique and important workshop with work psychologist Philippa Davies to investigate the way companies face the changes the recession demands.

Philippa, who has worked with two Prime Ministers and an Oscar-winner, is leading highly-participative sessions at the event, which will take a humorous look at negative reactions to change, tips and techniques on how to deal with them and how to move business forward so they constantly adapt to change.

After a decade or more of growth, the recession has come as a shock and has forced businesses of all sizes and specialities to change the way they think and operate, and how they motivate others.

Such change can be a big challenge, which is why the RCT Business Club and Caerphilly Business Forum have organised the event next week for their members and non-members.

Held in partnership with Caerphilly Business Club for firms across both counties, Getting Uppity In A Downturn takes place at Llancaiach Fawr in Nelson from midday to 3pm on Wednesday September 23. It is sponsored by the Heads of the Valleys Investment Programme.

Cllr Paul Cannon, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Housing, said: "Philippa Davies is a renowned work psychologist and author and we are delighted to have joined forces with Caerphilly Business Club and HOVIP to organise such a unique event.

"The workshops are open to all and will provide a valuable insight for all into the changes required as a result of the recession. Hopefully all those who attend will have a good afternoon and leave with some important and useful tips on how to deal with change."

Tickets are £10 plus VAT for members and £20 plus VAT for non-members. Prices include refreshments and a buffet and tickets can be bought via rctbusinessclub.co.uk or by calling Lorna Reed on 01443 495178.
